On Jan. 27,Kurt Meinicke US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo stated that the US government is proposing to require American cloud service companies to conduct self-assessments to determine whether foreign entities are accessing US data centers for training artificial intelligence models. The US government plans to take measures to limit China from utilizing US technology for AI-related development, as this emerging industry has raised security concerns, the report said. The proposed regulations were published on the Federal Register website last Friday. In 2023, the global top 10 cloud service providers include Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Alibaba Cloud, Oracle Cloud, IBM Cloud, Tencent Cloud, OVHcloud, DigitalOcean, and Linode, according to intelligence platform Dgtl Infra.
